meandbindiyadiwaliWhat is Diwali?

It is a beautiful ancient hindu festival happens in India every year. Diwali is one of the largest and
brightest festivals in India. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of good over evil. The preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, new moon night of the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika. Diwali falls between mid-October and mid-November. And this year it is on 11th of November. Happy Diwali!

I want to tell you about my experience for Diwali. What i leart from it? First of all, it is so beautiful, so much fun, so much joy, laugh, everyone would like to be in this circle. There were amazing positive vibes around.. The age of 7 to 70, everyone dances during this festival. Lights are incredible Deepawali-festivaleverywhere. It is like Christmas in a way but a bigger one, much brighter with full of dance and with warm weather. People put their best outfits on, beautiful indian ladies in their`s best sarees or lehengaas. What a scene!

Also, There is significant variation in regional practices and rituals. Depending on the region, prayers are offered before one or more deities, with most common being Lakshmi – the goddess of wealth and prosperity. On Diwali night, fireworks light up the neighborhood skies. Later, family members and invited friends celebrate the night over food and sweets.

diwalipic2I could see Love&Light in everyone`s eyes. This is what i love what I want to see, – happiness, celebration, joy and love.

The prayers vary widely by region of India. An example vedic prayer;

Asato ma sat gamaya | (असतो मा सद्गमय ।)
Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya | (तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय ।)
Mṛtyor ma amṛtam gamaya | (मृत्योर्मा अमृतं गमय ।)
Om shanti shanti shantihi || (ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥)

Translation
