ASHTANGA Yoga & RITUELS Retreat

Welcome to the Enchanting Spirit of Mexico!

There is nowhere quite like Mexico. This unique land—where colors, ancient traditions, powerful nature, and a zest for life intertwine—offers the opportunity not only to discover new places but to rediscover oneself.

Nestled in the heart of Mexico and surrounded by mountains, the enchanting town of Tepoztlán has drawn visitors for centuries with its distinctive energy and mystical atmosphere. Here, nature, spirit, and daily life flow together seamlessly. The silence of the mountains, colorful streets, local markets, and ancient traditions give Tepoztlán a soul all its own.

We chose Tepoztlán specifically for this retreat because it is more than just a travel destination; it is an inspiring space to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves.

Stepping away from the city's noise and the intensity of daily life, we will carve out time for ourselves amidst nature. We will begin our days with yoga practice and shape them through meditation, movement, breathwork, exploration, delicious food, and meaningful connections.

Sometimes, traveling far away is actually a way of drawing a little closer to ourselves.

What awaits us in Tepoztlán is not merely a retreat; A special journey where we will reconnect with nature, our bodies, and our own inner worlds.

Tepoztlán is considered a powerful spiritual center because of its dramatic natural landscape, rich Aztec history, and an active indigenous community that fiercely protects its sacred traditions

Yoga Retreat Shala

Nestled at the foot of the sacred Tepozteco mountains, in the beautiful Valley of Atongo, La Buena Vibra Wellness Resort & Spa is a peaceful sanctuary created for rest, reflection and inner connection.

Surrounded by more than three hectares of lush gardens, mountain views and natural beauty, the resort brings together everything we love about a true wellness retreat: dedicated yoga and meditation spaces, spa experiences, hydrotherapy, Temazcal, nourishing cuisine and quiet places to simply slow down and breathe.

ACCOMMODATION:

What makes La Buena Vibra particularly special is that wellness is not something added to the stay — it is at the heart of the entire place. The resort has been designed as a retreat environment where guests can disconnect from everyday life and reconnect with nature, the body and the mind.

At the heart of the resort stands the Stupa of Peace, a Buddhist monument dedicated to La Buena Vibra by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Set within the gardens, it provides a beautiful space for silence, meditation and contemplation.

Our retreat will take place surrounded by this unique atmosphere — beginning each day with Ashtanga Yoga with Karlita Armenta, and continuing with meditation, wellness, ancient traditions, nature and meaningful moments of connection.

La Buena Vibra is more than our accommodation. It is part of the retreat itself.

Ashtanga Vinyasa YOGA by Karlita Armenta

Karlita Armenta is an experienced yoga instructor authorized by Sri Sharath Jois as a Level 2 Ashtanga Yoga teacher; she conducts trainings and retreats internationally. Having begun her yoga journey at the age of 18, Karlita traveled regularly to Mysore, India, for years to deepen her practice, where she studied the traditional Ashtanga Yoga system and the Mysore method under the guidance of Sri Sharath Jois. She received Level 1 authorization in 2016 and Level 2 authorization in 2018.

Karlita’s teaching approach extends beyond the physical dimension of asanas. It centers on how the yoga practice can be integrated into daily life, emphasizing awareness, self-observation, and the relationship one cultivates with their inner world. As a co-founder of "Casa Atma"—a holistic living space in Puebla, Mexico—Karlita continues her work in the fields of yoga, traditional practices, and personal transformation. For her, yoga is not merely a practice performed on the mat, but a continuous and conscious relationship with life itself.

Begum Gulderen

With 20 years of yoga practice and 17 years of teaching experience, Begüm Gülderen founded the Shivani Life Center in 2010 and has organized countless teacher training programs, international yoga retreats, and workshops. She traveled to India annually for a decade, spent five years staying in Japanese temples, trained under Ganesh Iyer, and studied with Govinda Kai and the Jois family (KPJAYI). Begüm also has a deep interest in Buddhist teachings and spirituality; she has visited the Dalai Lama's temple and studied his teachings firsthand. Begüm is the founder of the Shivani Life Center.

Temazcal • Cacao • Fire Ceremony • Tamborama Drum Circle • Vitality Pool & Wellness Hidrotermal ritual

Our retreat will take you beyond the yoga mat, with a beautiful collection of transformative and deeply immersive experiences. We will come together for a traditional Temazcal ceremony, a heart-opening cacao ceremony, an intimate fire ceremony, and an energising Tamborama drum and movement circle. Alongside these rituals, we will experience healing sessions, as well as time to restore and rejuvenate in La Buena Vibra’s Vitality Pool and hydrothermal wellness circuit. Each experience is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with the body, explore ancient traditions and share meaningful moments together.

Nutrition and Gastronomy

Dining at La Buena Vibra is not merely a meal; it is an integral part of the wellness experience. It is a unique culinary journey that blends Mexico’s rich gastronomic heritage with modern, healthy touches, featuring dishes prepared from local, organic, and seasonal ingredients. Throughout the retreat, we will savor nutritious meals—including fresh, carefully crafted vegetarian and plant-based options—designed to nourish and support our bodies.

As we explore the local flavors of Mexico, the dining experience itself will become a cherished part of our retreat.

Nourishing ourselves, sharing, slowing down, and savoring the moment...
